Webinar: Integrating SEL Into Academics

In this webinar, we spoke with Jason Cicero, Assistant Principal at Chapel Street School in STATE and Jessica McDowell, Guidance Counselor from Denman Junior High School in Mississippi to learn more about how they integrate SEL into academics. Download the webinar recording and slide deck below.

Social emotional learning supports all aspects of a school community, especially academic learning! Too often, SEL is thought of as an “extra addition” to the day, and teachers are often concerned that incorporating SEL will take away from the content curriculum. In reality, it does the opposite!

SEL supports academic learning by providing the foundation for students to approach learning. Whether building collaboration skills, deepening resilience, or improving literacy through language acquisition, SEL provides the foundation to help students become better learners.
