Move This World (MTW), a leading provider of social emotional learning curriculum for PreK-12 is being added to the Middle School curriculum for the 2021-2022 school year.
Hoboken Middle School joins Brandt, Connors, and Wallace Elementary School in the Move This World curriculum implementation.
Hoboken Middle School is adding the Move This World Curriculum to it’s already comprehensive program for the 2021-2022 school year. Move This World cultivates students’ social and emotional learning (SEL) skills while enabling them to navigate the complex and rapidly changing realities of our world. Move This World will provide Hoboken Middle School students with meaningful and practical tools to navigate the complexities of interpersonal relationships and to build solid social and emotional decision-making skills.
“Just as we immerse students in all subject areas, the skills and dispositions associated with social and emotional learning must also be taught as an integral part of the school day. Children of all ages are faced with stressors, external pressure and complex situations on a regular basis that require sound social problem solving and decision making. Move This World provides practical strategies that can be practiced each day. By implementing Move This World, our students will be equipped with a set of extremely powerful social and emotional tools.” said Dr. Christine Johnson, Superintendent of the Hoboken Public Schools.
With the incorporation of Move This World, students learn how to manage their emotions, navigate challenges and build healthy relationships. In addition to building core SEL skills and preparing students for the future, Move This World helps strengthen school culture by creating a common language around SEL and allowing everyone in the school community to effectively communicate with one another.
“Partnering with Move This World at Connors Elementary School has been such an amazing experience. I believe social and emotional wellness is at the core of every successful student. Move This World has provided our school community with a platform that provides a curriculum that focuses on CASEL’s five core competencies of SEL and is delivered in a way that is fun for our students.” said Ryan Sorafine, Vice Principal at Connors Elementary School. “ The Move This World team provided our students and families with resources that could be utilized both in-person and remotely which was crucial in meeting the needs of our students during the pandemic. I am excited to continue to grow our social and emotional learning curriculum as we continue to “Move This World” together.”
Anna Marra, Principal of the Hoboken Middle School said, “Hoboken Middle School has a strong culture of achievement and Move This World builds on this by providing shared language for students, teachers, and parents around emotions.”
“We’re so proud of the great work that Hoboken Public Schools has been doing, and we’re looking forward to continuing supporting students in middle school with social emotional learning.” said Move This World Founder & CEO Sara Potler LaHayne.
Move This World has made a significant impact on classrooms across the country. Move This World’s interactive approach through videos combined with active engagement and authentic expression becomes a part of the entire school. What happens in the videos lives in classrooms, hallways, gymnasiums, cafeterias and on the playground. The goal is to integrate social and emotional learning at school into life outside of school. There has not been a more important time than now to build emotional intelligence and focus on mental health and well-being. Sandra Rodriguez Gomez, Assistant Superintendent of Schools said, “We are delighted to introduce Move This World to the staff and student body of Hoboken Middle School in September.”
