Deep Dive Questions for Children and their Grown Ups

It’s always helpful to talk about important topics from each episode with your child. Here are some Deep Dive Questions to help children and their grown ups debrief after listening to this week’s episode.

  1. How do you feel about school this year? What do you like? What feels hard?
  2. How do you help yourself stay focused while you’re learning?
  3. How do you think you and your friends can stay more connected right now?

Here’s What We Practiced This Week

Go to School Song: Going to school is fun! Whether you are going into a school building or learning from home, the Go to School Song can help you and your family transition to learning time.

Focus Jingle: The Focus Jingle is a fun song to sing whenever you need to pay attention. Sing the Focus Jingle with your child to help them prepare to pay attention to something important.

The Bubble Shuffle Dance: Sometimes you need to get up and move! The Bubble Shuffle is a great way to start your day, or take a quick dance break in the middle of your day to wake up your body and your mind.

Deep Breathing: We can stop any time we need to practice deep breathing. We breathe in for a count of 4, and out for a count of 4 at least three times.

Active Listening, one of the 10 Emogers from Move This World: The 10 Emogers are emotional management strategies we can use whenever we feel sad, worried, frustrated, overly excited, or any time we want to focus and calm down. Active Listening reminds us to listen when it’s important.

Look for Help, one of the 10 Emogers from Move This World: Look for Help reminds us that we don’t have to do difficult things alone. Sometimes when we have big feelings or a really big problem, we can look for help from a friend or trusted adult.
