In fact, history is more like studying a collection of stories and trying to make sense of them. Instead of simply regurgitating facts, students today are asked to analyze historical events and draw their own conclusions. SEL skills like listening, empathy, and considering diverse perspectives can help students better understand history. There are many ways to use social emotional learning to support History classes!
