Making Virtual Meetings More Meaningful

We begin assigning meaning to events and meetings before they even begin, oftentimes without realizing it. Heading to a birthday party? You probably put thought and time into selecting a gift. Visiting a friend for dinner? You might bring a food or beverage to contribute. Going to a class? Hopefully, you completed the homework. The physical, mental and emotional act of preparing for events and meetings make the event more meaningful itself. For many virtual events, we are eliminating the process of preparation and quickly dropping in with no transition. By asking students or colleagues to prepare something simple for the meeting ahead of time, we can make these events and meetings more meaningful as well.
