Director of Finance

Move This World seeks a full-time Director of Finance to lead financial operations and strategic finance in a quickly growing startup in the US K-12 edtech space. This role is remote with the ability to be in our Brooklyn, NY office two to eight times per month.

About the Role:

As Move This World’s Director of Finance you will be a key leader and hands-on operator, overseeing all financial operations of the company. This includes overseeing billing and invoicing, managing budget, forecasting, account reconciliation, accounting, capital raising support (debt and equity), and profit and loss reporting. You will be a vocal champion of Move This World’s financial health, guiding smart strategic growth decisions and identifying opportunities to improve the company’s profitability.

You are a critical thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable balancing time and juggling multiple projects to completion. You think both big-picture and day-to-day and are excited to implement a financial strategy to help accelerate growth and spread Move This World’s mission.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage the org-wide budget and work with CEO and Chief Growth Officer on establishing department budgets
  • Manage company cash flows and plan for cash spends on different projects
  • Oversee billing and invoicing process
  • Develop and manage key financial models
  • Conduct monthly financial assessments and generate reports to be submitted to Founder & CEO
  • Lead accounting processes, including any audits, and deliver accurate and timely financial reporting for all stakeholders including board, investors, and internal stakeholders
  • Conduct analysis of financial risks and benefits on business initiatives
  • Strategically assess capital needs and support in capital raising (debt and equity)
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Founder and CEO
SEL Programs For Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Social Emotional Skill Development for Late Elementary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • 5+ years’ financial management experience at quickly growing small-mid sized startups
  • Excellent financial and accounting acumen
  • Proven experience in financial forecasting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize information quickly, distill important takeaways, and tell a compelling story
  • Be a detail and results oriented individual who is self-motivated, flexible, and who thrives working in a dynamic, constantly changing environment
